I have received many an email about turnitin.com and essay formatting.
When turnitin.com shows you your essay so that you can double check if you submitted the correct essay, it just shows you the text without formatting. As long as you uploaded the paper, I will see the correct formatting when I download your paper. (The only exception is when you copy and paste a paper; if you do that, I’ll be able to tell that you did.)
I hope that clarifies some of your concerns. Please do email me if you have any questions.
Below you will find directions for uploading a paper on turnitin.com.
Remember, there’s a practice section for you to try out before you submit your first paper. I’m happy to help, too: stop by during office hours or schedule an appointment.

Anytime this week, turn in your homework folders to my office. If I’m not there, just slide your folders under the door. DO NOT submit them to my mailbox under any circumstances.

The essays also include my comments. I though that seeing how I grade the projects might be useful.
